Steve
Austin specializes
in audit and business
consulting engagements with a focus on technology, manufacturing, telecom, software
and medical device companies. He is the author of the newly released book, "Rise of the New Ethics Class," with a focus on Sarbanes Oxley regulations.
Prior to joining
Swenson Advisors, LLP Steve had over 22 years of experience as an Audit
Partner with Price Waterhouse LLP, and with McGladrey & Pullen,
LLP serving both public and private companies. While at Price Waterhouse,
Steve also worked in the New York National Office, where he addressed
complex accounting and reporting issues for companies, including ESOPs,
software cost capitalization, business combinations, income taxes and
leading edge business transactions. Steve worked with various members
of the FASB and EITF staffs. At McGladrey & Pullen, LLP he focused
on high tech, manufacturing, and real estate companies as well as managed
the audit department in San Diego.
Steve has experience
with emerging and middle-market companies and large public companies
listed on all major national stock exchanges. He has significant IPO
and secondary offering experience with high technology, biomedical,
software and real estate companies.
Steve is a Certified Public Accountant in California and Georgia and is a member of the California Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He is the past Global Chairman of Integra International and a member of their Global Executive Committee (in charge of Asia). He is also a member of Corporate Directors Forum, Global CONNECT, UCSD CONNECT, San Diego Venture Group, San Diego Software and Internet Council, and The San Diego Mayor's Pension Reform Committee. He serves on the Board of Directors and is the Audit Committee Chairman of Avanir Pharmaceuticals (a NASDAQ Company). Steve is also Treasurer of the Women's Resource Committee, and is a Board member of the Family Heritage Foundation, Life Perspectives, San Diego World Trade Center, Pinnacle Networking Group, Sharp Healthcare Foundation, American Heart Association and is past Treasurer of Santa Fe Christian Schools and past Chairman of the American Heart Association (San Diego).
